PROJECT: Write and record 365 songs in 365 days.
I am but one singer/songwriter living amongst thousands of other singer/songwriters on the wonderful and demanding island of Manhattan. How am I to stand above the crowd? How can I ever be seen when drowning in a sea full of other talented female folk/acoustic/redheaded singer/songwriters? How will I create for myself a platform to stand upon that is based on differentiating myself?
Simply by trying.
Some of the songs I will write will be less than extraordinary…possibly even borderline dull. But thats okay. The quality of the recordings will not be studio mastered but edited in my small NY apartment. Thats alright too. “Creativity is making mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” I chose to place that quote on top of this page for a reason. As a songwriter, it is my job to create music. Yes, some of the pieces I make may be bad but it is the very act of making them that matters. The challenge to continue to forever grow and never sit in waiting for a muse to grant me an “aha!” moment. I will make mistakes but in those mistakes - I will create art. I hope. Join me over the next 365 days. They should be pretty interesting.
